Strike Freedom Gundam!!

My friend Miguel Montoya just started an art blog and decided to post several of his works. Out of all of his pieces, the Gundam I must say, stood out the most. I had always thought it was an awesome model and would love to help him with the shaders, lighting and rendering for it. So I did. I talked to him about creating shaders for it and he was happy about it.

Here was the result!

(Modeled, posed and initial lighting by Miguel Montoya, Shading, Final lighting and rendering by Me)

VRay Goodness!!!

So I've been looking up tutorials on how to use the VRay renderer lately. From what I can tell, it is truly an amazing renderer. I hope I can eventually get a complete grasp on it, so far it's been a tad bit more technical then I'm used to. Anyways.. Here are some renders I've been able to make following the tutorials. The scene files were given to me so I won't take credit for them.

The fabled Cornell Box Simulation

Once again, these scenes were not created by me. The files were given to me and I just followed the tutorial on how to create the renders by tweaking the light values and render settings. It was mainly a global illumination study.

Sketching at North Park

I'm currently sitting in the NorthPark Center courtyard sketching away in my notebook. I go here from time to time due to the nice nature setting. :) The intense heat has passed for the day and the weather now is very nice. A slight breeze can be felt if you pay close attention to the air. There are small groups of people setting around on the grass while others are at the tables conversing. It all just seems so lively sitting here. I almost feel like I'm staring out at them from behind a one way mirror just watching as they move on with their lives. A bird can be seen far away in the cloudless sky, while the sound of kids playing and laughing can be heard. It really is nice just sitting here watching as time is passing by. I think I'm the only one on this side of the courtyard while everyone else is on the opposite end. That is pretty typical though I guess. Nothing really has changed from the past. I still find myself keeping a distance from everyone while doing my own little thing in my own little world. It won't be long until all of this is but a thought in the past. Once the game ships, I won't be able to see any of this anymore for a long time if not ever again. My family isn't the type to just go to parks or what not to enjoy the scenery. I guess that's what makes me so different from the rest of them. Anyways.. I need to get going now. Must catch the bus and onto the railway and back home. I'll probably pick up where I'm leaving off. Bye!!
